More then 120 participants attended regional seminars for forest owners During April 2007 in the various regions in Latvia – Daugavpils, Tukums, Saldus Valmiera – took place 4 meetings “Forest biomass preparation and use” for forest owners and other stakeholders about effective and sustainable forest management. Purpose of measure was to inform, educate and awake interest of private forest owners in wood biomass – preparation and use of forest residues, also covering such information as opportunities for forest owner’s cooperation. Target groups: forest owners, entrepreneurs, students, municipalities, public authorities, local media and other stakeholders. During each seminar besides the lector’s presentations, discussions and questions part, also the hand book “Forest biomass preparation and use” was distributed and film Wood energy” demonstrated. Hand book, film DVD and seminar materials will be available in internet www.videsprojekti.lv. Film was presented also in national television. It was the first seminar cycle in Latvia with comprehensive review about forest biomass production, logging residues processing technologies, quick-growing sallow and aspen tree cultivation principles.   [back]
