“Baltic Biomass Network” receives Energy Globe award in Brussels

On 11 April 2007 the Energy Globe Awards were presented to the winners at the Hemicycle of the European Parliament in Brussels in collaboration with the EU Commission and EU Presidency. 732 projects from 96 countries were submitted in the categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Youth.

Among 94 national winners also Ilze Strēle, project manager form State Ltd. “Vides Projekti” received national Energy Globe award about the implementation of project “Baltic Biomass Network”.

The Energy Globe is awarded to projects from all over the world which make careful and economical use of resources and employ alternative energy sources. The winning projects are presented in the categories earth, fire, water, air and youth at a tv gala, which is broadcast by international TV stations reaching 2.5 billion households. Every year, about 700 projects from all over the world are submitted in the Energy Globe Award competition. Submitted projects are presented in the Energy Globe data base which is accessible in the near future for interested persons. The Energy Globe aims at informing the international public about as many sustainable projects as possible, which are reproducible.
